Who are you?
I'm a British π¬π§ bloke living in Singapore πΈπ¬. I've been settled here since 2015 with my lovely little family.
As my blog name suggests, I'm into running. I'm not into crazy distances or speed, I just run for the pure joy of it.
I'm also into technology, like computers, web development and games.
What do you do?
I've been into computers since the mid 90s when I was picking up DOS commands and playing primitive games on my dad's beige PC. I fondly remember when we first got Windows 95 and a CD drive. What a time! π€©
Seeing the unbelievable things that a PC could do, I knew I'd be doing stuff with computers for a living.
So, I grew up, jumped into my local university in Worcester and got my degree in Game Design & Multimedia Development. Game development excited me, but I found another passion through some freelance work in web development.
Right now, in 2025, I'm working as a software engineer focusing mainly on web technologies. I dabble with as much as I can in this space, though I've always had a soft spot for front-end development. I enjoy learning about new tech that pops up and checking out the latest trends.
Whilst I cut my web dev teeth in freelance and small-agency work in the British countryside, Singapore's really where I bloomed. It's an incredible country to be in if you're into tech, business or finance. Or all 3 - they all blend together here.
What do you think of Singapore?
I unabashedly love it here. Culture, ease of living, food, safety, it has it all. It's not perfect, but it's shiok (really good) to me.
I'd wanted to see what living/working in another country was like since my uni days. Japan? An incredible and different culture to my own. Scandinavia? Breathtakingly beautiful and down-to-earth. Italy? Pure passion and food.
Singapore never crossed my mind. Chance lead my (now) wife to cast her internet dating search all the way from Singapore to the UK, and I chose to respond out of curiosity.
"She's messaging me from Singapore? Where even is that??" (Sorry, friends, I really didn't know!)
I call Singapore my home now, so much so that I see the UK as a holiday destination and somewhere we'll likely retire.
What's next for you?
Who knows? But if you're genuinely interested, bookmark this blog and check back in from time to time. I don't do comments for now but I usually share my posts on LinkedIn. Glad to have you here! β€οΈ
